Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completing of the program, the following student learning objectives will be accomplished:

  • Graduates will be able to describe the clinical and basic science principles of the generation and transmission of painful stimuli in the acute and chronic phases of spine pain.

  • Graduates will be able to formulate an interventional pain management plan incorporating specific techniques, utilizing qualitative and quantitative evidence-based data.

  • Graduates will be able to explain and analyze the social, political, and economic determinants of wellness and how they contribute to population health inequities and morbidity in the US and other communities.

  • Graduates will be able to understand the structure and describe the technical function of hardware and spinal implants associated with spinal imaging modalities and be able to understand interventional pain management techniques and their effects on the function and stability of the human spine.

  • Graduates will be able to appraise and explain how images are generated and the effects of the presence of imaging artifacts during advanced imaging procedures in the spine patient.

  • Graduates will be able to correlate and apply knowledge of both healthy, degenerative and traumatically altered spinal anatomy and its correlation to the disease process in the human spine.

Degree and Graduation Requirements

To be eligible for the Master of Science in Interprofessional Spine Management degree, students at Parker University must fulfill the following requirements:

  • 33 credit hours in major courses

  • A final, comprehensive exam during the NEUR 6320 Capstone/Thesis course

  • A thesis or scholarly paper that meets the level of quality sufficient to be published in an indexed bio-medical journal.
