Program Student Learning Outcomes
The goal of the Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography is to prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the Adult Cardiac and Vascular concentrations. The goals reaffirm the program’s commitment to meet the diverse needs of students, the college, and the community.
By graduation the sonographer will be able to perform the following:
Utilize patient history and relevant clinical information to obtain optimal diagnostic results (C) (clinical comps) (JRC-DMS graduate survey) (Employer Survey)
Demonstrate the knowledge and the skills to perform, obtain and analyze anatomic, pathologic and/or physiologic observations made during procedures to present to the interpreting physician (C, P) (clinical comp, JRC-DMS graduate survey and JRC-DMS employer survey)
Demonstrate the use of strong clinical judgement when performing sonographic exams (P) (clinical site mid rotation evaluation, clinical site exit evaluations)
Utilize skills to act in a professional and ethical manner while communication with patients, professional peers, and physicians (A) (clinical site mid rotation evaluation) (clinical site exit evaluation) (JRC-DMS employer survey)
Learning Domains: C=Cognitive; P=Psychomotor; A=Affective
